A Personal Journey

Braving the Storm of Difficult Conversations

I have struggled with difficult conversations. I would often find myself getting extremely anxious when conversations turned difficult, and my first instinct would be to just shut down and walk away. And I have done that, many times. It hurt my relationships, and never got me the outcome I wanted from those conversations. It only led to frustration, hurt, resentment, and even shame.

I would run away from these conversations for two reasons – first to avoid conflict and preserve my likability – and second because I could not predict or control, the reactions of the other person.

I had my inner voice telling me that I need to speak up and have these difficult conversations. But it was easier to remain silent, and when it got too much, to blow up and get verbally violent. That was my reality for many years.

The fact is, difficult conversations are unpleasant, — because we are human, we get anxious, we get angry and we all have feelings. But we can still learn to have them.

This workshop is an outcome of many years of research on what happens to us at a physical and emotional level when we get triggered, and how to manage it. While you might not be able to change how other people react, you can certainly change how you respond to it.

And we can all learn to respond differently. When we learn to have difficult conversations, it can truly change the quality of our relationships and our life. Are you ready?

“I discovered from the workshop what my default reaction patterns are, especially in difficult conversations. I tend to withdraw and mask my true feelings, which has never worked for me. I now understand how I can have more authentic and effective conversations with people, personally and professionally. An amazing experience!”
