What does being ‘over-sensitive’ mean?

I am an highly sensitive person, and it’s been a LONG journey for me to understand, embrace, and manage my sensitivity. I have learnt important lessons along the way. Firstly that it all begins with an understanding of what being ‘over-sensitive’ means:

• When you get easily hurt by the comments and remarks of others 
• When you go out of your way to be a ‘nice person’
• When you make a huge effort to never hurt anyone 
• When you are sensitive to the moods of others 
• When you try to please everyone and keep them happy 
• When you feel disheartened, even depressed when you don’t meet expectations 
• You often worry about what others think 
• You have a constant fear of rejection 
• You struggle to let go of negative emotions
